An idea is a hypothesis.
Give it a fair test.
Write one customer, one problem, and one affordable experiment. Keep observations separate from hopes, then choose your next step.

Begin with a blank canvas or load the hypothetical café example. The example includes invented evidence to demonstrate how to record an observation; it is not a real case study.
Choose the claim before the test.
Begin with the problem and the customer’s current alternative. Ask which assumption would most change your decision if it were wrong. Pick a test that can answer that specific question within your resources and permissions.
“Owners find photos inconvenient” and “owners will buy a $100 package” are different claims. An exploratory interview can inform the first; an accurately described offer tests the second more directly. A booking still does not establish profitable delivery or repeat demand. Read the evidence ledger to distinguish those signals.

Evidence before confidence.
Record what happened and how it was observed. A few convenient conversations cannot establish market size or a reliable conversion rate. Keep a note of who was eligible without storing personal details here, the offer made, and the time period. The hypothesis guide helps separate claims; the interview guide supplies neutral prompts.
This is an original worksheet. The SBA planning guide supports customer research, and Strategyzer’s Experiment Library offers a broader catalog of experiments. Sources checked November 5, 2026.
